Still in the bag. It's a boy! Fugue in D (aka Spider) arrived uneventfully on April 29, 2003 at 2:30 am.

He is out of Toccata, a Canadian Warmblood (Dutch x Thoroughbred, Canadian Sport Horse approved) mare and the Thoroughbred (Gold Premium Canadian Sport Horse) stallion,
A Fine Romance.

The first 24 hours ...

mother and child, always with milk on his nose!
black velvet how he earned his nickname
Spider appeared to be black when he was born but he has since changed to dark brown. He is now a rich chocolate brown all over. There aren't even any white markings except for maybe half a dozen hairs on his forehead. LOTS of leg on that boy
10.2 hh (more or less). All indications are that he is going to be VERY tall! first time outside outside with mom

Looking good Ten days old ...

Silky Talk, Toccata and Fugue in D ... with the herd

Silk (the baby-sitter), my Quarter Horse gelding is the chestnut on the left, Toccata (the mom) is the bay in the middle and Fugue in D is on the extreme right.

12.2 hh at 3 months ...

Spider is a joy to work with. He is the first foal for both Toccata and me. We couldn't have done better. He is beautifully conformed, calm, thoughtful, intelligent, trusting, interested, and attentive. I couldn't ask for better temperament. He is keen to work with people and he learns very quickly. He LOVES to be groomed which is a very good thing because I LOVE to groom!
Looks like he is going to be a liver chestnut
